Life With An Infant and Toddler

When I found out I was pregnant again, I knew it was going to be challenging. Having a 2 year old and a toddler can be difficult and sweet all at once. On one hand I have my sweet little baby who loves to snuggle and cuddle, and on the other hand I have my toddler who is a great ball of energy and doesn't like to stay still! They both need different things from me and it has become a fine balancing act.

I love my 2 year old, Bastian. He is sweet and super intelligent. I swear the day Jace was born his vocabulary grew tenfold. He is also a huge handful. Out of all my children he has the most energy and I guess he's what they call "high spirited". I call him crazy, lol. He loves to ride his push around trike and get on two wheels, go on his older brothers ramp with it, run around the house in a fury of energy, or just start knocking things over for fun. Gotta love him, but boy do I need patience for him!

Then there's Jace who is now going to be 5 months old in a few days. He is as sweet as can be! He is starting to show more interest in toys and loves to be held and snuggled. I really love babies. They are so sweet and innocent and just love you so much. And Bastian just adores him too. Sometimes I wish I had more time to just sit and relax and hold him and take naps with him like I did with Bastian. He really loves to be around all the action though.

As time has gone by and Jace has gotten older, things have gotten a little easier. Bastian is adjusting to not being the baby anymore, but I don't think he likes the idea of sharing toys very much. When Jace was very little I was very lucky to have my husband home for an extended period of time. I really don't know what I would have done without him! Bastian was acting out a lot then and I had a long recovery time. After four babies my body was tired! I had a lot of time then to relax and snuggle, which was awesome.

Now that it's just me and the two babies at home all day, it is definitly alot of work. Keeping Bastian busy is pretty difficult. He's not one of those kids that will just sit and play with toys (I had two of those before him). He likes to be active and it's hard when it's cold or raining outside. Luckily Jace naps often and that leaves me time to get things done around the house or play with Bastian. I am really looking forward to when they can play together!
